Neurological Rehabilitation Exercises
Neurodevelopmental Exercises
Neurodevelopmental exercises use handling and movement sequences based on how children normally develop motor skills, such as head control, rolling, sitting and crawling. They are used with children with cerebral palsy and developmental delay, and in adult neurological rehab.
What it does
Guided movement helps the child experience more typical postures and patterns, supporting skills like sitting and standing.
Our physiotherapists use it most often for cerebral palsy, down syndrome and infantile hemiparesis, and it features in our pediatric physiotherapy programmes.
How to do it
- The therapist positions and supports the child to encourage active movement.
- Activities follow developmental stages: head control, rolling, sitting, crawling, standing.
- Play motivates movement, such as reaching for toys.
- Parents learn handling and positioning for daily routines.
How much
Regular therapy sessions with daily home practice by parents.
Stop and check with us if
- Your child is losing skills they previously had. This needs prompt medical review.
Medical note
These instructions are general guidance, not a personal prescription. If you have a recent injury or surgery, a diagnosed condition, or symptoms such as numbness, weakness or dizziness, get assessed before starting. Stop and seek advice if pain increases sharply or you feel unwell.
