Rehabilitation Exercises
Paralysis Rehabilitation Exercises
Paralysis rehabilitation aims to maintain joint flexibility, strengthen working muscles, prevent complications and maximise independence. The programme depends on the cause, level and extent of paralysis.
What it does
Movement prevents stiffness, pressure sores and circulation problems, while active exercise builds whatever function is possible.
It is a regular part of rehab plans for spinal cord injury, quadriplegia and stroke, and it features in our paralysis physiotherapy programmes.
How to do it
- Passive range of motion for paralysed limbs, taught to carers.
- Positioning and pressure relief routines.
- Strengthening for muscles with activity.
- Breathing exercises.
- Transfer and mobility training.
How much
Daily, integrated into care routines.
Stop and check with us if
- Skin redness that doesn't fade, swelling in a limb, or sudden headache with high blood pressure in spinal cord injury.
