Burns Physiotherapy in Indirapuram

Serious burns affect far more than skin. As burns heal, scar tissue can tighten and pull joints into restricted positions. Physiotherapy starts early and continues for months to protect movement and function.

Why contractures develop

Healing burns form scar tissue that naturally shrinks. Burns over joints, such as the neck, armpit, elbow, hand, knee and ankle, can pull those joints into bent positions that become fixed if not treated. People also tend to rest in comfortable positions that shorten scar tissue further.

Early rehabilitation

Positioning to keep joints in stretched positions, splints to maintain those positions, and regular range of motion exercises start early, often in hospital. Breathing exercises are important if the chest or airways were affected.

Scar management

As scars mature over months to a year or more, pressure garments, silicone sheets, massage and stretching help keep scars flatter, softer and more flexible. Scar massage is typically started once the skin has healed enough.

Returning to function

Strength, endurance and practical tasks like dressing, eating, writing and walking are rebuilt. For hand burns, fine motor work is especially important. Emotional recovery is significant after burn injuries, and support from psychologists or counsellors helps.

Medical note

This page is general information, not a diagnosis. Treatment is planned after an in-person assessment by a physiotherapist, and we refer you to a doctor where symptoms need medical review first. If you have sudden weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, chest pain or severe unexplained pain, seek emergency care.
