Portable mini-cycle for seated leg or arm cycling at home.

Exercise & Rehabilitation

Overview

A pedal exerciser is a small foot-cycle placed in front of a chair. It allows seated cycling for range-of-motion, endurance and light strengthening without the space or expense of a full exercise bike. Placed on a table it doubles as an arm cycle for shoulder rehab or upper body endurance.

Common uses

Range-of-motion and endurance training for legs; arm cycling for shoulder rehab.

Who may benefit

Bedridden or elderly patients, post-surgery mobility, seated exercise for anyone.

Key features

  • Adjustable resistance
  • LCD monitor on many models
  • Foldable

General usage information

Position the pedal exerciser in front of a stable chair. Feet secured in the pedal straps. Start with low resistance and 5 to 10 minutes twice a day, progressing gradually. For arm cycling, place the unit on a stable table at elbow height.

Safety considerations

  • Use a stable, non-rolling chair with your back well supported
  • Ensure the unit is on a non-slip surface
  • Start with low resistance and short sessions
  • Stop if you feel dizzy or short of breath

Frequently asked questions

Is a pedal exerciser good for elderly patients?
Yes. It allows seated cycling with low fall risk, which is useful for elderly patients who cannot walk long distances or safely use an upright bike.
Can it be used for arm exercise?
Yes. Place the unit on a stable table at elbow height. Arm cycling is useful for shoulder rehab and general upper body endurance.
How much resistance is enough?
Enough that pedaling feels like moderate effort at your normal pace. If it is too easy you get little benefit; too hard and it becomes unsustainable.
