How to use this calculator
- Try each movement slowly and safely.
- Rate each one as easy, difficult or not possible.
- See your mobility score and the areas to work on.
How it works
Eight everyday movements screen the neck, shoulders, back, hips, knees and ankles. Each scores 2, 1 or 0, giving a total out of 16. It is a self-screen to guide which mobility exercises to start with, not a measurement.
Reading your result
| 14 to 16 | Good overall mobility. |
|---|---|
| 10 to 13 | Some restricted areas. |
| Under 10 | Widespread stiffness; assessment advised. |
Physiotherapy treatment
Mobility assessment and exercise planning is the core of physiotherapy for joint stiffness. After an assessment, your physiotherapist sets a plan built around joint specific mobility exercises, progressed as your results improve. Hands-on treatment, pain relief and education are added where they help.

Your result decides which of these appear, and at what dose.
