Home Physiotherapy at Yamuna Apartments, Alaknanda
Yamuna Apartments in Alaknanda is one of the colony's river-named group housing societies. (Vasant Kunj has a society of the same name; this page covers the Alaknanda one.)
Why home physiotherapy makes sense at Yamuna Apartments
For most problems, home physiotherapy is not the lighter option. Good treatment is assessment, hands-on work and progressive exercise, and all three travel. At Yamuna Apartments it also removes the hardest part of the first weeks: getting out of the house, into a car and through South Delhi traffic. Alaknanda is in central South Delhi, between Outer Ring Road and Nehru Place. We group visits here with our Sarita Vihar and Okhla route, so book a day ahead and we fix a regular slot for the rest of the plan.
Getting to your home
Mention that it is the Alaknanda society when you book, along with your block and flat number. If the patient has a carer or attendant, it helps if they are home for the first visit so we can show them the routine.
Upper floors without a lift
In older low-rise blocks, the patient who most needs physiotherapy is often the one on the second or third floor with no lift. Rather than waiting until they can manage the stairs, we start in the flat: bed exercises, sitting balance, standing and walking indoors. Stairs come in once strength allows, practised on the block's own stairwell with a rail and a family member alongside. Stair training explains how we progress it.
Recovery after a C-section
After a C-section, getting in and out of bed and lifting the baby are the hard parts. Once your doctor clears you, we start gentle postnatal core exercises at home in Yamuna Apartments; see C-section rehabilitation. A female physiotherapist is available on request.
Parkinson's disease
Parkinson's disease responds well to regular, specific exercise: big movements, rhythm cues for walking and balance practice. Doing it at home in Yamuna Apartments means we can work on the actual turns, doorways and bathroom where freezing happens. See our Parkinson's exercise programme.
Coming home from hospital
For residents discharged from Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket or Batra Hospital, we can usually start in the first week at home. Share the discharge summary when you book. See post-surgical rehabilitation for how the programme runs.
Therapies we bring to Yamuna Apartments
TENS
Portable pain relief, useful in flare-ups and between visits.
Heat therapy
Loosens stiff joints and muscles before exercise.
Kinesio taping
Gives a painful joint support that lasts a few days.
Interferential therapy (IFT)
Eases deep back and knee pain so exercise is possible.
Larger equipment such as spinal traction and shortwave diathermy stays at our Indirapuram clinic. Most South Delhi patients never need it; those who do usually start at home and add clinic sessions later.

Frequently asked questions
Do you visit Yamuna Apartments?
Yes. Visits to Alaknanda are pre-booked a day ahead and grouped with our Sarita Vihar and Okhla route, then kept at a fixed time for the rest of the plan.
Do I need to register the physiotherapist at the gate?
Only if the society asks for it. Mention that it is the Alaknanda society when you book, along with your block and flat number.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem. A simple back strain may need 5 to 8 sessions, a knee replacement 4 to 8 weeks, and stroke rehabilitation several months. We give an estimate after the first assessment.
What equipment does the physiotherapist bring?
Portable TENS, IFT and ultrasound units, hot and cold packs, exercise bands and assessment tools. Larger equipment such as traction and shortwave is at our Indirapuram clinic.
Is home physiotherapy as effective as going to a clinic?
For most problems, yes. Assessment, hands-on treatment and exercise all work at home, and portable IFT, TENS and ultrasound cover pain relief. Only a minority of patients need clinic-only equipment.
What does a home visit cost?
A single home session is ₹800 to ₹1,200 depending on distance, condition and session length, with the first assessment included. Weekly and monthly plans cost less per visit; the details are on our Alaknanda home physiotherapy page.
Society details are based on public listings and may change. Physiosolution is an independent clinic based in Indirapuram and is not affiliated with any hospital, society or residents' welfare association named on this page.
