How to use this calculator
- Choose the type of problem and how severe it is.
- Add your age and whether you will do home exercises.
- Get an estimated recovery range in weeks.
How it works
Ranges come from typical healing times for muscle, ligament, tendon, bone and post-surgical tissue, adjusted upwards for age over 50, low adherence to home exercise, diabetes, smoking and poor sleep. They describe recovery with physiotherapy, not rest alone.

Physiotherapy treatment
Recovery planning and progress review is the core of physiotherapy for general rehabilitation. After an assessment, your physiotherapist sets a plan built around clinician guided mobility, strengthening and functional exercises, progressed as your results improve. Hands-on treatment, pain relief and education are added where they help.
Exercises this calculator may recommend
Your result decides which of these appear, and at what dose.
Medical note
Calculators give estimates for general guidance and do not diagnose any condition. Stop and seek medical help for chest pain, fainting, sudden weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or severe or rapidly worsening pain. Always follow your surgeon's or doctor's instructions over any calculator.
