Getting to your flat

With this many towers, the tower number matters as much as the flat number. Tell us both when you book, and register the physiotherapist's name with the gate if the society requires it. For daily visits we keep the same entry details on file so there's no delay at security each morning.

When the lift is the only way down

In a 24-floor tower, a patient who can't manage stairs depends entirely on the lifts. That's fine until one is under maintenance or the power backup struggles. After a hip or knee replacement, a spinal surgery or a stroke, we start stair practice earlier than we might in a low-rise building, even if you rarely use the stairs, so that a lift outage doesn't leave you stuck. Using the society's open space

The central greens and jogging track are useful in the later stages of rehabilitation. Walking outdoors on paths, with turns, slopes and other people around, is harder than walking inside a flat, and practising it close to home is the bridge back to going out alone. Our walking exercises show how distance and difficulty are built up.

Home first, clinic later

Because the clinic is in the same khand, most ATS Advantage patients start with home visits while travel is painful and move to the clinic once a short car ride is comfortable.
