After surgery
Post Operative Orthopedic Rehabilitation in Noida
Post operative orthopedic rehabilitation in Noida that starts at home in the weeks after discharge, on scheduled slots across sectors, for knee, hip, spine, shoulder, ligament, fracture and ankle surgery.
Post-operative orthopedic rehabilitation in the first fortnight
Whether it was a knee, a hip, a shoulder or the spine, the first two weeks after discharge have a lot in common. Swelling peaks and then slowly settles. Sleep is broken. The first few walks hurt more than you expected. And for a while, someone else has to help with the bathroom, which most adults find harder to accept than the pain.
These weeks set the tone. Get the bed, the bathroom and the walking routine right early, and the later work goes more smoothly. Get them wrong, and people either stop moving out of fear or have a fall that sets them back weeks.

Making a high-rise flat work for recovery
Noida flats have particular strengths and snags. The strengths: a lift, a long flat corridor that makes a good indoor walking track, and often a podium or park inside the society gates. The snags: lifts go down for maintenance, power cuts happen, and the step into the bathroom or onto the balcony is often 10 cm or more.
Some of the problems we fix most often:
- A bed too low or too soft to get out of without a struggle, solved with risers or a firmer mattress
- Loose rugs and polished tiles between the bedroom and bathroom, which turn a walker into a hazard
- A deep sofa that's easy to sink into and very hard to get out of after hip or knee surgery
- No grab point near the commode, often fixed with a sturdy chair placed beside it until a rail is fitted
- A wet bathroom floor without a non-slip mat
We also practise one flight of stairs early, so a broken lift is an inconvenience rather than a crisis.
Family member or hired attendant?
Someone has to be around during the first weeks: for the shower, the first walks, the night-time bathroom trip. In many Noida homes the family members who could help are at work in the day, which is why we train whoever will actually be present, whether that's a spouse, a grown child, a domestic helper or a hired attendant. We show them how to help with transfers and walking without taking over the work the patient needs to do. If wound care or more personal care is needed, some families add home nursing for the first fortnight.
Scheduled slots across Noida sectors
In Noida we visit on scheduled slots, with travel planned across sectors. Our regular sectors include 62, 63, 71, 72, 75, 76, 121, 137 and Noida Extension, and you can read more on home physiotherapy in Noida. Evening slots are popular with working families and best booked a day ahead.
Indicative pricing, confirmed when you book: a single home session costs Rs 800 to 1,200, a weekly plan of 6 visits starts from Rs 4,500, and a monthly plan of 24 visits from Rs 16,000. If a surgeon follow-up falls mid-week, tell us the date; we'll plan a visit soon after it so any new instructions go straight into the programme. The first visit runs longer than the usual 45 to 60 minutes because it includes assessment and a written plan.
What a home session usually includes
The first visit includes a full assessment and a written plan. After that, a session of about 45 to 60 minutes usually starts by checking swelling, the wound area from a distance (dressings are for the nurse or surgeon) and anything that changed since last time. Movement is measured with a goniometer so the numbers can be compared week to week. Then come the exercises, chosen and dosed after assessment for your operation and stage, followed by walking practice and one or two daily tasks such as getting into the car for the next follow-up.
We carry a portable kit: TENS, IFT, ultrasound, a muscle stimulator, hot and cold packs, therapy bands, mobility aids and a goniometer. These are used where they help, for example a muscle stimulator when the thigh muscle won't switch on after knee surgery. Machines never replace the exercise.
When the Indirapuram clinic is worth the drive
Plenty of people complete their rehab at home. The clinic in Indirapuram earns the drive in the later stages, when someone is heading back to sport, a physical job or the gym, and needs strength work on equipment where the load can be measured and raised in steps. The usual signs you're ready: you can manage the car journey without pain building, the surgeon has cleared fuller activity, and home sessions have started to feel too easy.
When to call the surgeon or an ambulance
Whatever the operation, phone the surgeon for fever, a wound that looks red or is discharging, or pain that suddenly gets much worse. A calf that is swollen and painful needs checking the same day. Any new weakness or numbness needs prompt review; after spine surgery, loss of bladder or bowel control is an emergency. Sudden chest pain or breathlessness: call 112 or 108 straight away.
Medical note
This page is general information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Your physiotherapy is planned after an in-person assessment and works alongside the advice of your surgeon and doctor. Recovery differs from person to person, so no timeline or result on this page is a promise.
Frequently asked questions
Can physiotherapy start the day after discharge?
Often it can, depending on the slot schedule for your sector and the surgeon's advice. The first day or two at home are when bed, bathroom and walking problems show up, so an early visit is useful. Call as soon as the discharge date is fixed, and have the discharge summary ready for the physiotherapist.
Is a weekly plan better than booking single sessions?
For the first weeks after surgery, usually yes. A weekly plan fixes a regular time, keeps the work consistent and works out cheaper per visit. Single sessions suit people near the end of rehab who only need occasional checks, or those who want one visit to sort out the home setup before deciding.
Can a female physiotherapist visit?
Yes, you can request a female physiotherapist when you book. Mention it at the first call so it can be planned into the scheduled slots for your sector. It's a common request, especially when the patient is an older woman who will need help in the bathroom area during transfers practice.
Our lift is often under maintenance. Can rehab still continue?
Yes. We practise stairs early so that a day without the lift doesn't mean a day stuck indoors or an unsafe climb. If the stairs aren't safe yet, the corridor on your floor is usually enough for the walking programme. Tell us the floor and the usual lift schedule at booking.
